As the Walk London website says about the Capital Ring:
"It’s easy to forget just how green London is — this engaging walk offers a chance to savour some of the capital’s most glorious scenery. 15 easily walked sections divide these 78 miles (126 km) — magically retained within London’s suburbs as Metroland spread outwards — and leave you free to enjoy it all at your own pace." (http://www.walklondon.org.uk/route.asp?R=1)
It's an ingenious and surprising orbital walk of London, linking together woodlands, parks, canals, aquaducts and abandoned railway lines to create a path with beautiful views over London and the surrounding areas. Walking it, you'll get a much better idea of how the places you see on bus and train timetables actually fit together on the ground.
On the way, we'll see famous sights and places, such as Crystal Palace, Highgate, and Wimbledon common, and we'll see some hidden gems like Abney Park Cemetery, Charlton House and the Wharncliffe Viaduct.
In 2012, the Capital Walkers will be doing a section or more each month until we're finished. Come and join us in this exploration of the suburbs.

Keep up with how far we've got and what we've seen in Donna's diary.
Walk Leader Thanks
None of this would be possible without the volunteer walks leaders, so thanks are due to Marie-Claude & Phil and Kim for leading the walks.
