By public transport from London we reach an amazing variety of landscapes and environments for our day walks (from coastal walks on the South Coast, Kent and Essex, river- and canal-side walks in London and outside, the beauty of the Chilterns, the North and South Downs and the Cotswolds), but sometimes it's good to get away completely. This is where our weekends away programme comes in.
In past years, we've gone away to the blue remembered hills of Shropshire, sampled Bakewell tarts in the Peak District, investigated Staffordshire's countryside, spent a weekend in Hebden Bridge, ascended Snowdon the 'easy walking' way, and done the Yorkshire Dales Three Peaks in sublime October weather.
This year we are heading abroad, with a trip to the Picos de Europa National Park in Northern Spain and a cultural weekend away to Amsterdam. We rounded last year off with a fantastic New Year away in Swansea complete with walks around the beautiful Gower Peninsula.
Our weekends away are open to all members of the Ramblers. Keep checking here and on the Facebook group for details. We also email our members whenever a new weekend away is being planned.
