Capital Walkers

A return Capital Walkers visit to Wengen further to our trips in 2019, 2022 and 2024.

The Bernese Oberland is a great place for walking. Wengen is a largely car-free village perched on a terrace in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, reached by mountain railway and with spectacular views to the high Alps. The Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains make a splendid backdrop to the area.

Walkers are spoilt for choice for excellent walking trails in the area with stunning scenery.

Although we will be walking on tourist footpaths as we will be in an alpine area, ascents and descents will be rather more extended and challenging than a normal Capital Walkers ramble and a high level of walking fitness will be required.

The minimum expected level of walking fitness for this trip is the ability to comfortably undertake a Capital Walkers moderate or strenuous 12 mile walk at a minimum average speed of 2.5 miles per hour in a hilly terrain such as North Downs, South Downs, Surrey Hills or the Chilterns. In addition, you should not have major physical issues, such as relating to knees or hips. Finally, you should not suffer from vertigo. Please do not sign up for this trip if you do not meet these requirements.
