The Capital Walkers will be having a weekend away to Plymouth from Friday 7 August to Monday 10 August. Plymouth is a port city in Devon with stunning coastal views.

Plans for the weekend

The plan is to travel to Plymouth on Friday 7 August.

We will meet on Friday evening and then have a walk on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. We will also meet up somewhere on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
There are many options for walking. There will possibly be walks around Wembury/Plymouth, Bigbury-On-Sea and Kingsand/Cawsand, but this will be confirmed nearer the time. The walks are likely to be around 7-13 miles. The walk on Monday will finish in good time so we don't finish too late.

Walks will be hilly in places, between moderate and challenging.

I will be leading a walk on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Depending on how many people book we might need more than one walk on certain days. If anyone would like to lead a walk please let me know.

There could be some steep hilly sections. You will be expected to be walking fit in order to participate in this trip. A minimum expected level of walking fitness is the ability to comfortably undertake a Capital Walkers 12 mile walk at a minimum average speed of 2.5 miles per hour in a hilly terrain such as North Downs, South Downs, Surrey Hills or the Chilterns.

Accommodation and travel

You are responsible for booking your own accommodation and travel.

There are a variety of budget hotels and B&Bs available in Plymouth.
The best option for travelling to Plymouth is probably by train. There is a train service from Paddington to Plymouth, which takes just over 3 hours. You could also travel by National Express, which would take longer.
